Have pre-health questions? Email hpa@rice.edu!
To have a rewarding career in health care, you do not have to be a doctor. While most students are familiar with medicine and dentistry, there are many other paths that lead to careers in healthcare settings, such as pharmacy, optometry, public health, podiatry, physical therapy, and occupational therapy, along with veterinary medicine for individuals who have a desire to work with animals. Allied health professions play a vital role in health care, and many programs have similar pre-requisite requirements to medical or dental school. Explore all allied health professions to get a better idea of what career opportunities exist within them by exploring accredited programs and the professional organizations associated with each. And remember, the OAA can still advise for allied health professional programs too!
Please note: Rice does not offer professional allied health programs or internship opportunities.
