Hello! My name is Justin Mueller. I’m originally from Long Island, NY, where I also earned my bachelor’s degree from Stony Brook University. I subsequently moved to Boston and then Charlottesville for master’s- and doctoral-level work in Music History. I arrived at Rice after over a decade at the University of Virginia, first as a PhD student and later as a faculty member in the Music department, followed by administrative positions in Academic Advising and Student Success Initiatives. I’m excited to continue my student-facing work here and eager to help provide a foundation from which you can learn, explore, and grow during your time at Rice!

In my free time, I enjoy all manner of theatre (musicals, opera, spoken—especially Shakespeare), watching and reading copious amounts of science fiction, keeping current with new and recurring anime series, and exploring the local coffee scene.
