Academic Advising for Athletics
The primary goal of the Office of Academic Advising for Athletics is to ensure that each student athlete receives the help he or she needs to be successful in Rice University’s challenging academic environment. In order to guarantee success, our academic advisors meet individually with student athletes on a weekly basis to construct plans for academic achievement and monitor progress. Advisors assist student athletes with everything from selecting majors and scheduling classes to preparing for post-graduate scholastic, athletic, and career opportunities.
Among many other resources, the Academic Advising for Athletics staff offers academic planning assistance, tutoring, and supervised study sessions. The staff is available five days a week inside the Bixby Center located in the Youngkin Center of the Tudor Field House. The Bixby Center houses offices for advising, compliance, and student development. It also boasts computer access, study resources, and group/individual study space for student-athletes.
